How in-store voting works

Every time you shop in a Tesco store that has a vote taking place, you will receive a token that you can give to your favourite project in the voting display box.

Online customers can take their Customer Delivery Note into store and show this to a colleague in order to be given a voting token. We are working for a solution to allow online grocery shoppers to vote for local projects as part of the online shopping trip.

For each of our grant programmes, three projects that have applied are shortlisted and then voted on in local stores. Each store is responsible for logging the votes and keeping a record confidentially. At the end of the voting period, store results are reported back to the central team at Tesco.

Amounts won by projects are different for each of the schemes:

Tesco Bags of Help

Three community projects in each local area will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK, with projects changing every other month. Following the vote, the project that received the most votes in its area will receive a grant of up to £2,000, second place receiving up to £1,000 and third place up to £500

Bags of Help Centenary Fund Grants (England, Wales and Scotland)

Three community projects in each region will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores. The project with the most votes in the region will receive up to £25,000, with second place receiving up to £15,000 and third place up to £10,000.

Centenary Fund Grants (Northern Ireland)

Three community projects  will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores in Northern Ireland. The project with the most votes will receive up to £50,000, with second place receiving up to £30,000 and third place up to £20,000.
