Tesco Covid-19 Fund – Stories
The £500 supplied by Tesco Bags of Help has been of enormous help due to the increased demand for Food Parcels.
In specific relation to the Covid-19 situation, we see that the reasons for requesting food parcels are linked primarily to problems with benefits (usually delays in paying out Universal Credit), financial difficulties, health issues and homelessness . Of the ‘Other’ reasons, 80% relate to Covid- 19.
Given that there is likely to be a continuing negative economic impact from this situation, rthe key drivers of demand for the services of Ludlow Food bank will likely continue. We would therefore like to thank Tesco Bags of Hope for their generosity in supporting Ludlow Food Bank.
Prior to March the most food parcels we had distributed in a month stood at 54, in March 2020 we distributed 59 and in April 61, whilst only half way through May we have distributed 23 already this month.
‘Thank you so much for the award of £500 from Tesco Bags for Help. This will make such a difference to families who have been really hit hard by the crisis.-
VOLUNTEERS from the Young Ealing Foundation and Southall Community Alliance are providing food to borough people in severe need.
They have launched a new food distribution service in Southall for families having to self-isolate because of Covid-19.
